I talked to Alan Thornburrow, the CEO of Salvesen Mindroom Centre and a parent with dyslexia. Mindroom has been working with dyslexia and neurodiversity for over 21 years and is continuously supporting people living with learning differences.
Alan Thornburrow disengaged from school at 16. He struggled to find his place in the world until he managed to find a career in finance. Learning on the job, he realised he was learning more at work than at school and thought there might be others like him who weren’t successful at school but can do well in the real world.
Alan spent 20 years advocating for people that might see themselves as others in the world. Alan’s job is to influence decision-makers, policymakers, investors and funders into making the right decisions on inclusion and diversity in school and the workplace.
